The Mechanics of Meaning — An Introduction

Hello! It’s been a while. There are a variety of reasons for that, but they don’t really matter right now. I’m writing today to share a short announcement and a new project that I’m working on.

I’m pretty interested in both video games and literature, including literary theory, so obviously I’m especially interested in the intersection of the two: analyzing how video games tell stories and create meaning. I’ve decided to make a YouTube series looking at some specific games and talking about how they work.

One of my main goals is to make videos that are accessible and enjoyable but not superficial, so that anyone can get something from each of the videos, regardless of how much or how little they’ve played the game in question (or video games in general!).

Here’s “episode zero” of the series, serving as an introduction to the project and an overview of what I want to do. I’d appreciate it if you could give it a look, and if it’s something you’re interested in, consider subscribing to my channel or sharing the video with your friends!

I’m not really expecting this to go anywhere — it’s more a passion project that I just want to work on for myself and share with anyone who may be interested. I’m aiming to put out a video about every couple of weeks, so be sure to check back!
